Today we visited Al-Salt, a town just northwest of Amman. It was an pleasant and uneventful trip. The bus station where we arrived is seen in the lower left corner of picture number two on the link in the next paragraph. Much to our surprise we found the city is built on hills even steeper than the hills of Amman. You can get a pretty good idea of that from the pictures as well. There is much more green than we see from our flat in the city. We walked to the top of one of the hills where the Al-Balaqa Applied University is located. Beth was a very good sport about this. After that we took a taxi down to the city center and had kibab and humus in a quiet, but smoky restaurant. We then spent a few minutes looking at pottery and glass artifacts in the little museum before catching a bus home. Now that was interesting. Finding the right bus was easy enough, but there was a big mob of university students crowding and jostling around every bus headed to Amman the moment it pulled to a stop. I'm afraid after letting several busses go and finding the crowd just kept streaming in we eventually learned our lesson and aggresively shoved our way aboard.
